California Acupuncture Board Upcoming Meetings

Additionally, please note the California Acupuncture Board's upcoming November 5th Licensing Committee discussion on education. CAB has posted the agenda and materials can be found on the CAB Website.

This will include discussions on :

    1. Doctorate Degree - omments the Board has received to date, and in its occupational analysis, from the profession, indicated a desire to move to this degree level of education as a requirement to practice in California. The Board does not regulate the degree, only the curriculum, which both the Master's Program and the Doctorate program can and currently do address. If programs and the profession are in alignment, then they would be able to seek this pathway at the legislature. This would not be in the Board's purview to initiate. Where do the programs stand on this?
    2. Degree Titles - There is no uniformity on this which has been identified as confusing to the consumer. Where do the programs stand on this?
    3. Prerequisites - Sufficient?
    4. Science Requirements - Sufficient?
    5. Clinical Hours – Internship/Externship - Do programs have any input on current Board requirements for Clinical training? It sounded like some programs were seeking less hours of clinical training in a clinic owned and operated by the program, but we didn't really hear much on this.

If members want to hear what was discussed and shared at June's committee meeting, please visit Part 1 and Part 2 of the discussion.
